FACE NEW YORK
WEB DESIGN, BRANDING
FACE NEW YORK is an art project designed to bring visibility to people dealing with homelessness in New York City. The exhibition hopes to create a deeper, more nuanced understanding of a population that is often judged, overlooked, and passed by. The project is curated by Allie Wilkinson. I joined the FACE NEW YORK team as Web Designer shortly before the first exhibition on October 4th, 2015, responsible for branding designing, and building the website.
[Note: the website has since been updated]
To create authentic, honest branding that would be bring awareness to the issue of homelessness, and to create branding that will be flexible for future projects, and to build a responsive exhibition showcase in time for an upcoming exhibition.
STEP 1: BRANDING 🎨
While the current exhibitions are focused on the homeless in New York, future projects hope to focus on the homeless population in other cities. Therefore, the logo needed to be adaptable to different platforms and situations.
The final style presentation uses a stark palette and minimalist layout to bring focus to the subject of homelessness, and to make sure that the color scheme did not distract from the artwork. .
STEP 2: RESPONSIVE WEB DESIGN 🖥
I designed and hand coded the website using a Bootstrap framework. To manage the mailing list, I customized a MailChimp form and subsequent on-boarding emails.
